Question: Why isn't doing an ordinary text search just as good?

Answer: Because in general a text search will turn up dozens of hits. The user then has to look at each until he or she finds the desired instructions. A tremendous waste of time in most cases, because in most cases the user will be looking for instructions on tasks that other users look for also! Why not have the indexer do the look-up once and for all, for all those users, and then record the results? That's what we do in a ZST index.
